How we work
Of course, there will always be differences between a first-time buyer, moving home, and a remortgage; the steps below cover most scenarios. As always, we treat you as an individual and tailor our advice to your specific needs and requirements to ensure you get the right outcome, so the steps below are a guide only, and we’ll discuss with you precisely what the next steps are at each stage of the process. That way, you always know what’s going on, and don’t forget we’re with you through the process from start to finish.
1. Get in touch
The first thing you’ll need to do is contact us or call us on 01623 375007 and tell us about your situation so we can get an idea of how to help. The more information you can tell us when you fill in our contact form, the better because it allows us to ask questions specific to your requirements.
2. Initial Call
We’ll then call to gather more details and specifics about your mortgage needs. Next, we’ll send you a data protection notice along with our terms of business, then complete a questionnaire. This helps us to gather all the necessary information a lender will ask us when we make an application on your behalf.
3. Documents
After we’ve completed your questionnaire, we need to gather and assess your documents. These include an ID check, proof of income and outgoings, a credit check, proof of deposit if you’re buying, or your current mortgage statement if it’s a remortgage, and your existing insurance policies, if you have any.
4. Mortgage Illustration
Once we have completed steps 1, 2 and 3, we can send you a mortgage illustration and our recommendation for the right mortgage. This will be based on everything we’ve discussed, your documents and the answers to your questionnaire to ensure we’re meeting your requirements and giving you the right advice.
5. Life Insurance
At this point, we will know which mortgage to apply for on your behalf, and the last piece of the puzzle is to discuss your insurance needs. Not everyone is eligible for life insurance, and not everyone can afford it. However, we have a duty of care to ensure that you don’t lose your home if the worst happens.
6. Applications
After completing the previous steps, we submit applications to the relevant providers on your behalf. At this point, your mortgage and insurance cases go into underwriting to be assessed, a surveyor will be instructed, and we will work to get your applications approved as quickly and efficiently as possible.
